About the Boat

Adventure is a classic riverboat and was found at a salvage yard in Hempstead North Carolina. It was abandoned, derelict and in need of much TLC. The Yuknat family has brought this vessel back to life over the past 12 years. Captain Mark and Mindy spent 4 years living onboard while completing renovations. Today their son Captain Alex has taken the helm and continues the upkeep. He and his crew are always available to show off their hard work!

Captain Alex Yuknat

Alex grew up on the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound.  He has been on the water since he was born.  When he was 7 he started sailing and was racing by the time he was 9.  His love for boating led him to The Sound School in New Haven in High School and then onto Massachusetts and Maine Maritime Academies.  Alex enjoys the winter months in Key West, Florida and will be taking care of the next addition to the Connecticut River Expeditions fleet, a 65′ ketch sailing vessel that will be available as accommodations and charters.  During his summers in Connecticut, he has helped with the restoration ADVENTURE and is thrilled to be able to take the helm and provide the perfect venue for the perfect celebration.

List of Caterers

Can we have alcohol drinks?

Sure! At this time it is BYOB.  You can make arrangements with Tony’s Package Store for delivery if you would like.

Can we play music?

Yes, we have a great sound system and as long as you’ve downloaded the playlist to your phone/device you can connect through bluetooth.

Can we display a slideshow?

Yes, we have HDMI, USB and standard video jacks.  Please be sure to bring the adapter for your specific device.

Is ADVENTURE wheelchair accessible? Can she take walkers?

No, we have raised door sills and the entrance is too narrow for a wheelchair.  Walkers are acceptable as long as the person is able to maneuver the 6″ door sill.

Is there Air Conditioning?

There is not much of a need for AC on the Connecticut River!  There are large fans available and many windows to cool down passengers when needed.

Can I decorate?

Yes,  please keep in mind that while under way loose items will flap in the breeze.  Signs, photos, and creativity are welcome, please use string or Command Strips to secure decorations.  We ask that balloons be secured with string.

Can we light candles?

No, please use electronic/battery candles.
